(i) C is on a south-facing slope, which in the Northern Hemisphere gets longer periods of daily sunshine than a north-facing slope. South-facing slopes are sheltered from northerly winds, which can often be cold, especially in winter.
(ii) B is on a north-facing slope, which receives less sunshine than south-facing slopes in the Northern hemisphere. North-facing slopes are not sheltered from cold, northerly winds.
(iii) Altitude: A is colder than C because it is at a higher altitude. Temperatures decrease by 1 °C for every 150 metres climbed.
